The Christchurch Singletrack Club are running a series of short races this season for CSC club members (others are welcome to race for a small entry fee). Tuesday evening, 11 February 2020 - Singletrack Club Crocodile Summer Series round 2 - Crocodile XC MTB Park
The Christchurch Singletrack Club are running a series of short races this season for CSC club members (others are welcome to race for a small entry fee). Round 2 is a 90 minute solo/relay event. Sat 15 February 2020 - 4X2 MTB relay - Timaru
This is a great event and well worth Christchuch riders driving 2 hours south for. Held in the Scenic Reserve (Centennial Park) in Timaru. This event is a fun race for solos or teams of 2. Complete as many laps as you can on this short, very fast single track/ hardpack track in 4 hours. This is a fundraising event for trail development and other projects in South Canterbury. Sat 22 February 2020 - Moonshine Trail - Gore
Southland’s premier mountainbike event. MTB courses range from 30 to 50 km. An awesome warm up for the Motatapu. Held at Dolamore Park, just out of Gore. See www.moonshinetrail.co.nz

Sat 22 February 2020 - Ruapehu Express - Central Plateau
A classic 55km XC point to point race/ride mostly across private land with exclusive access for this event only! Riders start on the Tukino Ski field Road and will be treated to a huge variety of terrain and trails including leg 1: NZ Army tussock/desert landscape LAV tracks, leg 2: the myriad of trails in the Karioi pine forest which wraps around the Whangaehu and Wahianoa Rivers, leg 3: the beautiful native Rangataua forest, leg 4: a smattering of farm land and quick dash to Ohakune on the tar sealed roads. There is also a shorter 21km course for those wanting a shorter challenge. Riders start mid way though the Karioi forest, then wind their way through the Rangataua native forest ending with a glide down to the finish line at Ohakune. www.ruapehuexpress.co.nz

Sat 29 February 2020 - Bluebridge Karapoti Classic - Wellington
NZ’s longest running mountainbike event. 50km, 20km, and Kids 5km options. Based in Wellington's rugged Akatarawa Ranges, 10km north of Upper Hutt City, the Karapoti Classic is NZ’s premier MTB event. Established in 1986, it is renowned worldwide as the Southern Hemisphere’s longest running MTB event. This old-school adventure ride combines a huge but achievable challenge with superb scenery and an awesome social scene. Be quick... entries are limited to 1000 starters. www.karapoti.kiwi

A popular annual series for secondary school students, held after school on five Wednesday afternoons before the school's road season kicks off in April. All the events start in the upper dog exercise area at Halswell Quarry (near the start of the Crocodile Track) and will make use of the MTB singletrack network in the adjacent Crocodile XC MTB Park. Sun 8 March 2020 – Rakahuri Rage 6-Hour Mountainbike Race – Rangiora
This family-friendly event offers a challenge for riders of all skill levels and experience. Based from the Rangiora Racecourse, you'll compete in a team of 2-4 riders (or a solo rider) over an 8km loop course featuring singletrack and stop bank roads. The team which completes the most laps during the 6-hour race wins. One of the main aims of the Rakahuri Rage is to create a relaxed and social atmosphere. Sat 14 March 2020 - Motatapu, Wanaka
A 47km scenic ride from Glendhu Bay, Wanaka, to the historic and beautiful Arrowtown. The first few kilometres are on gravel road, then you continue up the Motatapu Valley on a well maintained farm track climbing gradually over undulating terrain with several small stream crossings, until topping out at 887m when you reach the 35km mark. The course descends gently until it reaches a steep, rocky descent down the Soho Creek into the famous Macetown track. There are several river crossings over the last 8km on a gravel track. Perfect for all Canterbury riders! This is a great course for this race format - uses some of Hanmer's great singletrack but still not too demanding for those doing solo. With a team of up to four riders, or you could go solo, with a mixture of double track and singletrack riding, what a way to spent an Autumn day in Hanmer Springs. You have the choice of riding for 4 or 8 hours. The whole event will be run in daylight, so no need for expensive lighting systems. Based out of the Forest Camp grounds, so great facilities and plenty of space to enjoy the MTB Village atmosphere, with time in the evening to enjoy the other delights of Hanmer Springs. An 8hr relay on an 8km course on private farmland, opened exclusively for the race. Track is a mixture of hand cut single track, historic water races and farm track - plenty of challenge but well within the ability of most social riders. Vibrant event village with premium food and beverage outlets, kidszone entertainment and 3 different children's loops to keep the kids entertained. Don't miss this one! Simply awesome. Mountainbike courses don't come better than this. The main race features 40km of Nelson’s epic mountain bike trails incorporating a loop of the stunning mineral belt. The loop starts in central Nelson and joins the historic Dun Mountain Rail Trail, a flowing gently inclined singletrack leading to a climb up the Classic to almost 900m to the top of Fringe Hill. Followed by the undulating Black Diamond Ridge single track through spectacular native bush. After rejoining the rail trail to complete the loop of the mineral belt with an 850m descent of the new challenge in descending; “Boulder valley”. There is also an easier option (but same distance) that avoids both the grunt up to the summit of Fringe Hill and Black Diamond Ridge. Entry numbers are restricted. Solo spots take a little longer but you'll still want to be quick.

A scenic traverse between Culverden and Cheviot via the Lowry Peaks Range, Kaiwara Saddle, Ethelton Valley and the Random Spur. Two course options available: the traditional 43km ‘Challenge’ course; or the 45km 'Epic' course option for those who wish to race harder for longer. The epic course continues climbing from Kaiwara Saddle to the tops along rough farm track before re-joining the challenge course at the end of the Ethelton Valley. This adds 30 mins to the riding time. Organised by the Cheviot Lions with proceeds going to fund local community projects. Sat 10 October 2020 - Motu 160 Cycle Challenge - Opotiki
A MTB and Road race that you can do as a solo or in a team. The 65km MTB leg on winding hilly forested gravel road is raced with the Motu Challenge multisport competitors and is followed by a road bike leg of 90km back over Traffords Hill and down Waioeka Gorge to Opotiki. www.motuchallenge.co.nz

Sat 24 October 2020 (Labour weekend) - Dusky Trail - Twizel
A great 40km course in the grandeur of the Mackenzie Country as you travel through iconic highcountry stations and take in the magnificent views of Mount Cook, Lake Pukaki, and Lake Benmore. Involves a few river crossings and an overall vertical climb of over just 500m. The Trail follows 4WD farm tracks and has a small section of both singletrack and gravel road. Sun 25 October 2020 (Labour weekend) - Deans Bank 10 hour - Wanaka
A popular event that has had great rider feedback. The event is held on the fantastic purpose built 11km track situated on DOC land alongside the Clutha River at Deans Bank in Wanaka. The track is all singletrack and has been designed for bikers by bikers so it’s fun to ride! The track has been designed to suit riders of all abilities. Team categories or solo. Sun 25 October 2020 (Labour weekend) - Milk and Honey Race - Takaka, Golden Bay
One race, two bikes, one big hill. The Milk and Honey Race combines one of New Zealand’s biggest road climbs and longest stretches of downhill singletrack into one event. Join the Takaka Hill and the Rameka Track together, start and finish in Takaka, Golden Bay and you have an iconic road and mountainbike race that tests all-round riding skills. Roadies can team up with a mountain biker or you can go it alone with two different bikes. Sun 25 October 2020 (Labour weekend) - Whaka 100 - Rotorua
The Big One. 100km of riding over a course that is predominantly singletrack. There is nothing else like it in New Zealand. 3 courses will be offered: 25km, 50km and 100km. Regardless of what course you decide to race one thing is guaranteed: you will be racing in one of the best mountainbike venues in New Zealand. www.whaka100.co.nz

The Christchurch Singletrack Club are running a series of short cross country races this season for CSC club members (others are welcome to come along to try it out). Generally short course multi-lap format using various loops within the ever growing trail network of the Crocodile XC MTB Park. But some weeks may be longer or different format like teams relay. Races typically take around 30-45 minutes to complete and involve up to 5 laps. We vary the course each week for the main race. Usually 2 races each evening to cater for both sport and expert riders. Sat 7 November 2020 - Timaru 10 Hour Day/Night MTB Race - Centennial Park, Timaru
The Alpine Energy Ten Hour Mountain Bike Race is grassroots MTB endurance racing at its best. Run over a stellar 9km course on single track and formed trails in Centennial Park, Timaru it attracts up to 300 riders and up to 500 spectators/supporters. Four different course options to suit all riders:
- 131 km, Ross to Greymouth

- 26 km, Kumara to Greymouth

A multi-lap format race held within the Cheviot Hills Reserve, 1.5 hours drive North of Christchurch. Choices range from 12km for less experienced riders through to 32 km for competent riders. Course is a mix of singletrack, 4WD farm track and grass. Organised by the Cheviot Lions with proceeds going to fund local community projects. Sat 28 November 2020 - Tekapo10 - Lake Tekapo
A 10 hour XC team relay or solo race based in the Lake Tekapo Regional Park, utilising a 7km circuit of 4WD track and singletrack. Great race for all abilities of racers with plenty of passing room. Sun 29 November 2020 - The Longbeach MTB Coastal Challenge - Hinds
A course with stream crossings, strenuous gullies and farm tracks along the beautiful coastline of the Pacific Ocean. There are four courses:
- the 35Km Classic Track
- the 23km Recreational Track
- the 12km Family Track
- the 5km Kids Ride

Three stages: Short time trial lap of approx 15min in Redwoods, then 4km time trial up Nichols creak track (20–60min), then a mass start XC race of approx. 60min.

Mon 30 December 2020 - Bannockburn MTB Classic - Bannockburn
A very popular event over the holiday period that takes you into the hills of Bannockburn (just down the road from Queenstown). Three courses to choose from:
- Adventure Ride - 54km with 2000m of climbing - a race for the fit endurance rider.
- Classic Race - 34km of moderate climbs and fast downhills - suited to the hard to average racer
- Sport Ride - 24km of farmland and tracks with a huge steep downhill section before it joins into the Classic course to finish.
- Family Recreation ride - 12km - a relaxing ride for the family
