Saturday 11 February 2012 – Living Springs/Viven Aguas

Introduction/Introducción

Thank you for your interest in this event.  We hope that it will be a great day and we encourage you to dress up whether you are spectating, helping or racing.   Just keep your costume “family friendly” :-)    The first race of the day will be in the afternoon and will be a standard cross country race (open to everyone). The results from this will be used to determine our club champions.   This will be presented at the club end of financial year function which will be held around May/June.  The rest of the races are all about fun and we will try and cater for everybody.  The event village will be in the Farm Park this year which will make it much easier to find a course suitable for children.

Hazards include, but are not limited to, weather conditions, condition of your equipment, track surfaces, vegetation, and actions of other competitors, spectators, officials and livestock.

Events/Programa

THE TIMETABLE IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE as some events may take longer than expected.  Please aim to arrive at least 30 minutes before your first event to collect your race number and get organised.  All races start near the Farm Park.

CRUZ TIERRA RAZA - Cross Country Race 2:00 pm

Riders will do 2 laps.  Each lap will be about 5.5  km long and passes through a mix of native bush, pine forest and open farmland.  The results of this race will be used to determine the club champions.

You will leave the Farm Park area on relatively flat tracks before heading up a new climbing track, then onto a steeper 4WD track taking you to the bottom of the Pines.  Once in the Pines you climb for just  over 1km  on singletrack. When you exit the Pines you continue on singletrack (Rhymes with Orange) through regenerating kanuka.  Follow the singletrack as it winds down the Mississippi through kanuka forest, then crossing an open spur into Zane’s, a 1.2 km long section that descends in native forest with frequent bends, a rocky creek crossing and several wooden bridges.   Once out of Zane’s you continue riding down Skoolz Out, a track that is mostly singletrack out in the open. At the end of Skoolz Out you will find yourself at the bottom of the 4WD climb to the Pines but you will turn right and head back down, then out to the Farm Park.
