Don’t forget your shoes, helmet, bike and nutrition. It’s amazing how often people forget things. You might like to bring a solar shower to wash off after your race too, or a thermos of warm water and a flannel. We’ll have a bike stand area, so you might like to bring a bike lock too for when you are not racing.
Spectators
The course is going to be excellent for spectating with riders passing some areas multiple times, and only a short walk from the event village. Dress up! Make some noise!
You might like to bring drinking water, money for the food vendors, sunscreen, camera and a bike lock to lock your bike up (we are aiming to have a stand there) if you are arriving by bike as we don’t want them out on the course, or scattered all around the event village area.
Volunteers
On the day we are going to need assistance in a lot of areas to run this event smoothly. If you would like to offer to help, even if just for a short time, please head here.
Prizes
Thanks to Ultimo – winners from ALL the Age Groups in the South Island XCO Races will be presented with their own jersey!
To keep the prizegiving ceremonies short they are going to be limited to acknowledging the placegetters. After experimenting with the games I had in mind I have changed my mind about using them to allocate spot prizes. Now you will simply check in at the prize tent to see if you have won something or not. But I will still have a few activities there that you can do just for fun. Thanks to our sponsors Ground Effect, Pure Sports Nutrition, Biomaxa, Texture Plants, Watties, Cycleways, NZ Mountainbiking Calendar, Revolution Components, Cactus, Dole, Coffee Culture and Moffats Flowers. More will be added as they are confirmed. We need products with values ranging from just a few dollars to $50 – $100 so if you have a product you would be happy to supply, get in touch by emailing rebekah at singletrack.org.nz.
Parking
The primary carpark is going to be next to Findlay’s picnic area (1). Secondary is the main one by the toilets (2). Third, the roadside on Kennedy’s Bush Rd (3). Fourth, if dry, in the horse paddock (4). Please do not park in the Cashmere Rd carpark – we would like to keep this available for other Halswell Quarry users. Follow the yellow to the event village. Halswell Quarry is near the intersection of Cashmere Rd and Kennedy’s Bush Rd.
