  • Crocodile XC MTB Park Open Day

Sunday 1 November 2020, 10 am – 2 pm
(weather permitting)

3 years of track development to come and try out!

If it’s been a while since you’ve ridden out at the Crocodile XC MTB Park then you will notice a lot has changed. Take this chance to come and have a look, enjoy a ride, and a little bit more! There are tracks from easy to advanced to try out.

New tracks!

Of course a lot might be new if you haven’t been riding here but just to mix it up for regulars we will be opening Double Exposure and the Rock Climb for the open day. Both of these still require further work to be 100% complete but there’s definitely something to try for more advanced riders. The b-line on Double Exposure is not built yet!

Rickrolled and The Garden Path are two tracks that have opened since lockdown and have been very popular.

Check out the Nationals 2021 course!

The Cycling NZ MTB Nationals will be held at the Crocodile XC MTB Park in 2021. You can check out the potential course to race or you can find out why it’ll be the best MTB lap race for riders and spectators … ever (big call!)

Enjoy a sausage!

We’ll be cranking up the barbecue by the Entrance Hub from 11am onwards. Turn up on a bike and we’ll give you a free sausage! There might be the odd jet plane too.

Watch some big air on the dirt jumps!

Have you seen the dirt jump line in the gully at the park? This is your opportunity to watch Phil and friends demonstrate their skills. Head along to the Uppercrust area from 12 noon.

Meet the trailbuilders!

Several of the trailbuilders will be present – you can chat to them about future plans and give them feedback and your ideas.

Get a great photograph of you riding!

We will have a photographer out on the trails so get an awesome pic of your skills, or your child’s skills!

Sign up for a spot prize!

Turn up on the day, put your name down, and you’re in the draw!

For the Kids … Decorate your helmet competition!

If you are 12 years old or under, get creative and decorate your helmet. Judging at 1pm by the C2 bridge (by the stormwater ponds). Feathers, wigs, stickers … ?

Support the Christchurch Singletrack Club

Whether you are a regular or not, we’d love to have you come and check out the tracks that the Singletrack Club has been building at the Crocodile XC MTB Park.

See you there.

How to get there

If you park in the Cashmere Road carpark at Halswell Quarry, just follow the path all the way up to the forest at the far end of the upper dog exercise area. If you park in the main carpark, from the carpark adjacent to Findlays Picnic area (at the end of the park road), head down the gravel road just beyond the chain gate until you get to the open field on the right at the end. The MTB area is at the far end of that in the pine forest. Follow the path on the left hand (northern) side of the field.

Toilets

There are toilets located in Findlays Picnic area and the main HQ carpark. There is coffee available near the main HQ carpark.
