Quiz By Cycle and Christchurch Singletrack Club AGM – 30 July 2017

We invite you and your friends to join us for a fun excursion on Sunday afternoon 30 July.

An UPDATED brief timetable:
1 pm to 3:15 pm Biking Quiz
3:15 Afternoon Tea starts
3:35 Quiz review
3:45 Words from the Oliver brothers
3:50 Presentations
4:00 AGM and year review
5:00 we have to be out of the room but you can finish your conversations in the foyer or at Craythornes Hotel.
The Quiz
If you want to take part in the Quiz, meet in the carpark with your bikes behind the Halswell Library (Te Hapua) – the driveway is on the left of the building – at 1 pm for a 1:15 pm start.

You will then have 2 hours to travel to as many locations marked on a map as you can or feel like.  You can travel as an individual, couple, friends or family group.  Because we expect there to be a large variety in the type of people taking part we will give away some spot prizes (every participant is in to win) but number of points earned will only get you bragging rights!

Most of the quiz question locations can be reached by quiet roads, paths or cycle lanes so that it is reasonably safe.  Please obey all road rules and be aware of other users, especially on the paths as there may be limited visibility around some corners. The map covers the area from Wigram through to Halswell Quarry.

The trains are likely to be running ( so you might like to take advantage of that instead or as well as.

Each group/individual will get one map.  You will find it much easier if you rig up a clipboard to your handlebars if you can.  Please bring a pen or pencil (though I will have some spares in case you forget).

If you come back before 3 pm you can wait in the library.

***Please let Rebekah know by emailing rebekah at if you intend to take part so I know how many  maps to print *** (I am no longer going to do a mini option for the much younger riders with points to find around the Domain area because lots of the domain is quite muddy and some access is fenced off).

The Afternoon Tea
We have the Hao Room at the library booked from 3 pm to 5 pm.   We’ll have some afternoon tea ready for when you get back from your bike ride at 3:15 and we’ll go over the answers around 3:40 and then present the schools, hillclimb and cross country trophies for the year.

Hopefully you will be able to stick around to join us for the Annual General Meeting which we’ll aim to start no later than 4 pm.  The AGM will include

  • A summary of our years activities (events and trailbuilding) and finances
  • Election of the executive and committee members.  Don’t worry, we will not pressure anyone to join the committee unwillingly!
  • Presentation of our trailbuilding and event plans for the coming season
  • Discussion on a new track proposal by Laurence
  • General Business (If there is anything you would like raised please let me know so I can include it on the agenda.)

What happens if it is wet?
We will cancel (or postpone) the bike part of the afternoon, but the AGM will go ahead.

And then?
We have to be out of the room by 5 so a few people may head over the road to the bar at Craythorne’s for a drink.
